Jack Ruby assassinates Lee Harvey Oswald in the Dallas police department basement, in full view of scores of police. Ruby contacts the Warren Commission from his cell after being imprisoned for the murder of Oswald. Ruby says he “can’t talk here,” and asks to go to Washington, D.C., where he feels he can. He adds “they” are trying to kill him with cancer, so time is of the essence. The Warren Commission refuses to bring Ruby, a crucial witness to events surrounding the assassination of John F. Kennedy, to Washington, D.C., leaving him in a place where he “can’t talk.” A few months later Ruby dies of cancer in prison.
